A COMPLETE GUIDE TO TRAVEL AROUND SRI LANKA
Trip To Beddagana Wetland Park
Beddagana Wetland park is one of the beautiful places situated in Colombo city. This, being an enchanting marshland and a bird sanctuary is an ideal place for anyone to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Sri Lanka.
This is my travel story of the trip I made to Wetland Park in Colombo.
As a whole, we all know that the Colombo District in Western Province is an urban environment full of all facilities. But even in such a developed environment, we as humans sometimes need to relax in beautiful and peaceful natural places. Many of us love such healthy coolness from a tranquil and serene natural space.
So, now we are going to tell about such a place which is located not far from Colombo city. Beddagana Wetland Park is a perfect place for all nature lovers.
To reach Beddegana wetland park, you can take a bus with route no 190 or 170 from Colombo City and get off at Ethulkotte. From there ,take a taxi to Beddagana junction which would cost about Rs.300.At Baddagana junction you can see the wetland park nearby.
Â
It is open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and entry is prohibited at night time. The entry ticket is as small as Rs 100/=(0.31 USD). There are parking facilities for vehicles.
There are no restaurants inside the park. Therefore ,do not forget to bring some snack. You can bring mobile phones and take photos . If you use advance cameras and equipment for photography, you have to inform them about it.
After entering the park, your will find how relaxing you feel when you walk through the quiet environment full of natural greenery. There is no big crowd on weekdays. On weekends more people can be seen relaxing in this wonderful place.
On one side, you will find the Diyawanna Oya. It is really a beautiful place where no one could miss taking a photo.
When you walk a little further, you will find a very long wooden bridge built in the middle of the trees. You can walk along that bridge for a long distance. There are many species of aquatic plants on both sides of it and a beautiful lake full of flowers.

On the other hand, you can see some species of butterflies , birds and very valuable plant species with name plates. you have to go there at least once to experience the beauty of this wonderful natural park.
Do not dispose of the leftover food, plastic water bottles inside the park. it is very valuable that they have installed a water faucet in case of emergency. So I remind you with love that you must go at least once to experience this natural beauty. I am sure that it will be a priceless experience for you.
